Rio Ferdinand makes Raphinha transfer prediction amid Manchester United links

Rio Ferdinand has tipped Leeds United forward Raphinha to hit another level, should he move to a better team in the summer transfer window. The 25-year-old has been tentatively linked with Manchester United and other elite clubs from across Europe of late.

A marquee signing for Leeds after they completed a return to the Premier League in 2020, the Brazil forward has scored nine goals and provided three assists this season. Following a spell out of the Leeds team with injury, Raphinha could be on the move this summer for a fee around the £25million mark.

After recruiting Jadon Sancho and returning five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo last summer, United appeared to be well-stocked in attacking quarters earlier this season. However, there could be a further shake-up next season when key figures in the Old Trafford boardroom make their next managerial appointment.

Erik ten Hag has been identified as a preferred candidate in that regard. However, there are other contenders and, while United are set to prioritise central midfield signings during the upcoming window, there could also be moves to strengthen other positions.

Barcelona and Liverpool are credited with an interest in Raphinha, whose contract at Elland Road expires in 2024.

Speaking on the latest episode of his popular YouTube series Vibe With Five, former United man Ferdinand said: "Yeah, I like him, I like Raphinha, I like the way he plays. I think he had a spell in the season where he was the most decisive player at Leeds.

"If he went to a better team he would go up a level again. I think there's more to come from him. He will be an interesting player, especially at that valuation, £25m in today's market, that's a good price for someone like him."
