Rio Ferdinand delivers three-word verdict on Manchester United's new home kit

Former centre-back Rio Ferdinand has given his seal of approval after Manchester United's home kit for the forthcoming 2022/23 campaign was officially unveiled on Friday.

The new shirt, manufactured by Adidas, had been 'leaked' online on no shortage of occasions over the past few months, meaning almost everyone knew what it looked like ahead of United officially releasing it. Made up of traditional United red, the shirt features a white collar fold-down collar, giving it a retro feel.

The club crest has been inserted inside a red shield, while the Adidas logo and TeamViewer sponsor also feature across the front. New sponsor DXC Technology have also made their way onto the shirt, becoming United's new shirt sleeve sponsor. The American-based IT company has entered a multi-year partnership with the club.

The new home shirt has a retro feel to the design, with the shield surrounding the United crest reminiscent of the kit worn back in 1999 Champions League-winning campaign. It also has a similar look to the kit United wore when winning the Premier League title during the 2006/07 campaign.

It is a design that has been well received by the supporters, plus former United ace Ferdinand. Following its launch, he issued a short message in response to United's Instagram account promoting the kit.

Ferdinand posted: "Feeling this kit," plus a flame emoji.

So it seems that Ferdinand is a fan of the new-look strip. It is a simple but effective design, meaning it is most certainly eye-catching. United are set to debut it when they face Liverpool in Bangkok on Tuesday.
