Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand has claimed that Arsenal won't finish in the top four this season.
The Gunners currently sit fith in the Premier League table, just one point behind West Ham United, who have played two more matches.
Rivals Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur dropped points on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively and Mikel Arteta's side capitalised, clinching a hard-fought 1-0 victory away to Wolves on Thursday evening.
Centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes scored the only goal of the game in the 25th minute, tapping the ball in from close range after captain Alexandre Lacazette got a touch on the ball ahead of Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa.
The north Londoners then had to hang on with just ten men for over 20 minutes after Gabriel Martinelli was controversially sent off, but the performance wasn't enough to convince Ferdinand that they will qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League.
When asked on BT Sport why Arsenal won't get top four, he said: "Goals. Aubameyang has gone, not that he was banging them in when he was there, but he was a big player, the captain.
"I like Mikel Arteta and what he's trying to do there. Arsenal, great history, but in recent years, they have not shown you anything that will convince you that they're going to be consistent enough to get into the top four."
Former Liverpool and United striker Michael Owen then chimed in, claiming that the Gunners have added some defensive steel in recent months.
"This is the most positive I'd be if I was an Arsenal fan for a long time," he said.
"They are lacking a few good players, but they look like, like tonight, they can go away to big places now and fight it out a bit more. They got bullied a lot of times.
"If you watched them at the start of the season; I was there against Brentford and it was the Arsenal of the last few years. But now they have a bit of steel about them."
