Rio Ferdinand assesses 'massive' decision
Ferdinand has warned key figures in the Old Trafford boardroom that their impending managerial appointment is 'massive' for the club. Manchester Evening News revealed last week that Ajax coach Erik ten Hag has been picked out as a preferred candidate to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on a permanent basis.
Initial talks have been held amid competition from Mauricio Pochettino and other contenders. Further discussions are planned, while United are still hoping to make a final decision before the end of the campaign.

During the latest episode of his popular Vibe With Five podcast, Ferdinand did not hold back when outlining how important this moment is for his former club. But the pundit will back Ten Hag completely.
Italian FA confirm Roberto Mancini stance
Mancini is set to stay put as Italy manager despite the Euro 2020 winners suffering a shock defeat to minnows North Macedonia on Thursday night. It means the Italians will not take part in the 2022 World Cup and the surprise result promoted question marks over Mancini's future.
The former City manager has, seemingly, emerged as a wildcard contender for the United position. However, after success only last summer, the Italian FA have underlined their wish for the 57-year-old to continue.
For the second World Cup in succession, Italy will not compete in the finals. United have, of course, identified Ten Hag as their preferred candidate to replace Solskjaer.
