A Florida mother is under arrest after Ring camera footage allegedly captured her coercing her teenage son to break into her lover's apartment to steal cash and cigarettes.
On November 13, 2024, Linda Maria Palacio, 39, reportedly broke into the apartment of a man she had been involved with for over a decade in Miami's Little Havana neighborhood, according to Local 10.
The victim, who kept a $1,300 cash jar and a $200 carton of cigarettes in plain sight, told police the front door had been forced open.
Surveillance footage played a key role in identifying Palacio and her teenage accomplice, believed to be her son, as the culprits.
Ring cameras captured Palacio and the teen approaching the apartment, covering the camera, and forcing the door open.
Inside, Palacio was seen directing her son to the cash jar, which he took. Palacio was arrested on January 7, alongside her son. While her son made a statement to investigators, Palacio reportedly became loud and uncooperative after being shown the video evidence.
Palacio faces charges including burglary of an occupied dwelling, grand theft, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She remains in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County as her bond is yet to be set.
A court hearing is scheduled for Friday to address the charges.
