A Ring camera spotted a California good samaritan rescuing a rabbit, cat and two dachshunds from a couple’s house who he did not know.
The man, who was identified as Paul Murphy by KSBW, was out for a run when he came across smoke swirling around a Scotts Valley, California home.
The homeowners, who weren’t present at the time, were unaware of the danger their pets were in. That is until Murphy utilised their Ring surveillance camera to communicate with them.
In conversation with WTHR 13, homeowner Courtney Polito said that she saw Murphy “running back and forth.”
“So I answered it and he said, ‘Hello, do you see there’s smoke coming out of the top of your house?’”

Smoke alarms began to go off and Polito shared the home access code with Murphy who ran in and out of the house to save the furry friends.
Polito also noted that if Murphy didn’t step in to help when he did, they would have lost everything.
“The fire department said 10 more minutes and the house would have been gone,” she said.
Her husband Tony told the outlet that “it takes a certain type of person” to enter a stranger’s burning house to save pets.
It’s unclear as to what Murphy did with the animals, but he was out by the time the firefighters arrived on the scene to extinguish the flames.
Scotts Valley Chief Battalion Chief Andrew LoFronc also told WTHR 13 that it was the first time the agency saw someone use “a Ring doorbell system to alert 911 and the homeowners.”
Courtney Polito said that she was looking forward to giving Murphy “a hug.”
“I want to give him a hug . I’ll bring him to lunch. I’ll bring him dinner. I don’t know ... I just want to thank him so much and let him know how thankful we are.”
