Denver Broncos rookie cornerback Riley Moss is joining the team after breaking up 26 passes and intercepting 11 passes in 43 games at Iowa.
He’s a play-making cornerback who attributed his success to film study and physical attributes.
“I think a big part of that is film, and another part of that is being a football player,” Moss said after being picked by the Broncos in the third round of the NFL draft. “There’s a happy medium between being a guy who watched a bunch of film and being smart but isn’t physically gifted.
“I think I’m a kid who’s decently smart but also has the physical traits to go out there and make plays. I think that’s why I was able to see so much success at Iowa.”
In Denver, Moss will join a talented secondary that is headlined by star defensive backs Justin Simmons and and Pat Surtain.
“They make plays, and I think that’s the coolest part,” Moss said. “The biggest thing that I think is important to me is being able to learn from these guys who have been in the league and understand why they do the things they do, [including] their technique. [I want to] learn everything I can from these guys. I’m excited to get in that room and meet all those guys.”
Moss will get on the field with his new teammates when the team begins organized team activities on May 23. After OTAs, the Broncos will hold a mandatory minicamp from June 13-15. Then players will have a summer break before training camp begins in late July.
