Rihanna pregnant with second child as she showcases bump in Super Bowl halftime show

Rihanna's eagerly awaited Super Bowl halftime show certainly didn't disappoint as she took to the stage in Arizona - and revealed she was expecting baby number two.

The songstress, 34, put on an impressive display and showcased a sweet baby bump in a stunning red outfit during the break in the huge showdown between Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs at the State Farm Stadium.

The game saw the Chiefs left the Vince Lombardi trophy after winning 38-35, grabbing the vital points with seconds remaining.

At halftime, Rihanna stunned fans as she was lowered from a floating platform wearing an eye-catching all red number, in which she left the jacket open to show off the bump.

She appeared to be cradling and rubbing the bump at times during the performance, sending fans into a frenzy.

One Twitter user wrote: "Feel like Rihanna revealed her pregnancy like Beyonce did... the whole revealing the area then going ahead to rub the belly, yup."

And another seemingly agreed, saying: "Ok so Rihanna is in fact pregnant. OMG she was literally mothering."

And the news was confirmed to Mirror by her representatives shortly after her performance.

It comes just nine months after she welcomed her first child with A$AP Rocky.

Rihanna's appearance came despite previously saying she couldn't be a sellout and perform at the event.

She had earlier turned down the opportunity to headline the event and boycotted it in solidarity with former US football player Colin Kaepernick, who became recognised around the world for taking a knee to protest racial injustice in the US.

But, no matter her comments, her 13-minute set at this year's Super Bowl 57 was full of thrills and had the crowd on the edge of their seats.

As a crowd of backing dancers donned their white attire, the pop icon treated fans to a superb medley of her past hit tunes after being lowered from the lofty platform.

She belted out many of her past tunes including, All of the Lights, Umbrella and Diamonds - much to the adoration of those in the stadium.

As the star was raised to the skies again to bring an end to the show fireworks lit the sky and the crowd rose to their feet to cheer their halftime star.

It was RiRi's first time performing live on TV in five years as she followed the likes of Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and last year's show of Dre Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg and Mary J Blige to be watched by millions of people across the world.

Speaking to Apple Music ahead of her performance, she revealed that 400 people had been involved in the production process and there had been 39 different set-lists as she laboured over what songs to perform, and how.

As ever, there was an influx of A Listers in attendance to watch the Umbrella star strut her stuff. Adele was among those taking to her seat as she had previously joked: "I'm going just for Rihanna. I don’t give a flying f***."

The Easy On Me singer has long been a fan of the Barbadian pop singer and looked glamorous in a tailored suit and chunky sunglasses as she watched on.

Also in attendance was Gordon Ramsay, with the chef rubbing shoulders with Jay-Z in the build-up to the showcase.

There was more music royalty in attendance too as Cher was spotted in the 63,400 capacity crowd.

Away from the pitch, all eyes were once again on the commercial side of the Super Bowl. With a number of movies being announced as usual, the likes of P Diddy were also on show.

In one ad for T-Mobile, Hollywood star Bradley Cooper was savagely mocked by his mum for "looking like a flamingo" in his bright pink shirt.
