Rihanna planned on releasing music ahead of shock Super Bowl pregnancy revelation

Rihanna was set to grant fans their wishes and bring out her first music in three years before her surprise pregnancy announcement at this year's Super Bowl.

The Diamonds songstress, 34, stunned the audience in the State Farm Stadium in Arizona as well as the millions watching around the world when she revealed her baby bump during her eagerly anticipated performance.

But she's admitted it could've been a much different year if she wasn't expecting baby number two with A$AP Rocky.

Discussing her potential new tunes, the Barbadian beauty admitted she's kept falling in and out of love with the recordings.

Speaking to British Vogue, she said listening back to an unreleased song is "almost like trying to dress like you used to dress".

She said: "It’s like, 'ew, no. I would never wear those again.' Your taste changes, your vibe changes."

But, being pushed on when fans could expect new music - prior to her pregnancy - she said: "I want it to be this year. Like, honestly, it’d be ridiculous if it’s not this year.

"But I just want to have fun. I just want to make music and make videos."

She did admit, however, that any release would have to be created with "the right background music with the visuals".

"I can’t just go shoot a video to me talking,” she said.

It now remains to be seen whether or not the star will push ahead with her plans.

Rihanna's choreographer, Parris Goebel, also recently opened up on the pop star's big announcement at the Super Bowl, claiming it wasn't a planned moment.

Speaking to ABC's GMA3 on Wednesday, she explained: "Honestly, she didn't really know if she was going to be showing or not."

RiRi had kicked off her live performance suspended high above the stadium while an army of dancers dressed in white gathered beneath her.

Showing off her baby bump at the beginning of the performance, she appeared to rub her hand over her stomach, sending fans online into a frenzy of speculation before the baby news was confirmed.

Known professionally as Parris, the Emmy Award-winning choreographer said that Rihanna was "not planning to make a reveal at all".

She revealed: "She was going to maybe wear something baggy that didn't really show and then leading up to the show we were just like 'oh she's really showing'.

"So last minute, we decided to embrace it and share it with the world."
