Right-Wing Group Criticizes Israel-Hamas Deal, Calls For Resignations

Hostages are released as part of a deal between Israel and Palestinian Islamist group Hamas

A right-wing group representing some of the hostage families has criticized the recent deal between Israel and Hamas, calling on members of the Israeli cabinet to resign rather than approve it. The Tikva (Hope) Forum expressed concerns that the deal would leave dozens of hostages behind and potentially lead to future conflicts and additional hostages. They described the deal as dangerous for both the kidnapped individuals who would remain in captivity and the Jewish people as a whole.

The deal is currently pending approval from both the security cabinet and the full government cabinet in Israel. A senior Israeli official mentioned that opponents of the agreement would have the opportunity to petition the Supreme Court before the deal can come into effect.

The Tikva Forum, which represents a right-wing minority of hostage families in Gaza, has been vocal in its opposition to any ceasefire agreement that involves the release of prisoners from Israeli detention. In contrast, the majority of hostage families are represented by the Hostages and Missing Families Forum, which has consistently supported the idea of a ceasefire.

In a direct message to Israeli politicians, the Tikva Forum urged them to work towards a responsible deal that would ensure the safe return of all their loved ones simultaneously. As part of the agreement, Hamas is expected to release 33 hostages in the initial phase, with Israel reciprocating by releasing hundreds of prisoners in exchange.
