Cleaning your sofa may feel like a task you don't want to undertake - it takes ages, stains can be really stubborn and tricky to move, and it's just frankly exhausting. Thankfully, one mum has realised there's a simpler way to perform this task and it will only cost you just 16p. Plus, you'll likely already have the handy household item in your cupboard.
Mum @capricesmum took to TikTok to share her 'sofa deep clean routine' with her followers, showing the steps she takes when the inevitable day she has to clean her sofa comes. Those with busy routines will breathe a sigh of relief when they find out how simple it is.
The first step is to take off your sofa cushions and hoover up any hairs, crumbs, or bits of dirt that may be loose so the surface you're working with is as easy to clean as possible.
Then, you need to put a washing machine capsule into a bowl of boiling water, and let it dissolve. Asda sells sensitive non-bio capsules at £3.25 for 20 tablets - meaning each one costs just 16p.
The cleaning guru then grabs a microfibre cloth and covers a bristled brush with it, dips it into the soapy mixture, and then wipes her sofa down with it - you'll can see the fantastic results immediately.
The perks of this hack is that it will also leave your living room smelling fresh - but some were left questioning how practical the hack was due to the time it would take to dry.
The mum said: "Not as long as you'd think actually, about two hours with the heating on."
One praised: "I did this to my couch this week and it worked SO SO good."
"So satisfying", another commented.
She also stated: "It doesn't leave any reside behind if you dilute the detergent pod in a large enough basin of warm water."
