Ricky Tomlinson gives 'update' on Brookside reboot as Loose Women hosts in stitches

Ricky Tomlinson had the Loose Women panelists in stitches as he gave an update on Brookside.

The 83-year-old actor appeared by video link on the ITV daytime talk show. He was in The Epstein Theatre in Liverpool while he spoke about his role on Brookside as the legendary soap is being re-aired on TV.

When asked if he would ever return to the Liverpool based soap given the chance, Ricky's reply was brilliant and had the whole studio in fits of laughter. The star is known for playing the role of Bobby Grant in Brookside between November 1982 and May 1988.

Coleen Nolan asked about a comeback, to which Ricky said: "Well there is talk, and it's only talk, that after this subset of Irish Annie [his current theatre show], there might be making a couple of us, me, Sue, and a few more of them, go into a nursing home.

"The first episode is very, very funny. I've read the first episode, when I'm saying to the nurse 'give me a kiss'."

Laughter erupted in the studio, as he continued: "And the nurse is saying 'stop it, stop it', and I say 'come on nurse just give us one little kiss', and she says 'Bobby will you stop it', and I say 'I only want one kiss' and she says 'I shouldn't even be in bed with you!'."

Fans at home praised him on Twitter. Kels said: "I love Ricky Tomlinson!!!!!! Absolute legend! #LooseWomen." Meanwhile, Sally said: "Ricky Tomlinson looks old, God Love Him, Beautiful man Xxxxx #LooseWomen #Brookside."
