Ricky Gervais takes swipe at James Corden as he shares 'worst dinner party ever' tweet

Ricky Gervais has taken a swipe at James Corden after he was temporarily banned from a restaurant over his behaviour.

Reacting to the news, the 61-year-old comedian – who has a longstanding feud with James – took to Twitter to share a tweet from a fan joking about the allegations.

It also included a clip from Ricky's Netflix show After Life, where his character Tony mocks James.

The tweet, published from a Twitter account called Sue, had the caption: “James f*****g Corden #AfterLife @rickygervais Worst. Dinner party. Ever.”

In the clip, Kath – played by Diane Morgan – asks Tony what his five dream dinner party guests would be.

When she says her first one would be James Corden, Tony replies: “F*** me.”

Commenting underneath, one Twitter user wrote: “Is the dinner party at Balthazar’s? Cos then James would have to sit outside with a lemonade and a bag of crisps.”

Another tweeted in reply to the clip: “My favourite scene cos it’s spot on!!! ‘James Corden can do anything... and does‘.”

Earlier this week, James was said to have been banned from the Balthazar restaurant in new York for allegedly “yelling at staff like crazy”.

The Gavin and Stacey writer was called a “gifted comedian” but a “cretin of a man” in a furious Instagram post shared by restauranteur Keith McNally, who owns the Balthazar chain.

In the lengthy Instagram post, Keith wrote: “James Corden is a Hugely gifted comedian, but a tiny Cretin of a man. And the most abusive customer to my Balthazar servers since the restaurant opened 25 years ago.“

The restaurant owner added he '86'd' The Late Late Show host – which is slang for throwing someone out or refusing to serve a customer.

He went on to explain: “I don't often 86 a customer, today I 86'd Corden. It did not make me laugh.

“Here are two examples of the funny man's treatment of my staff. He behaviored similarly in my former restaurant, Cafe Luxembourg, a few years back.“ [sic]

The first alleged James demanded a free round of drinks after finding a hair in his main course. While the second claimed the actor began “yelling like crazy“ to a server over an omelette.

Restauranteur Keith wrote: “James Corden began yelling like crazy to the server: 'You can't do your job! You can't do your job! Maybe I should go into the kitchen and cook the omelette myself!“

He later said the ban had been overturned after the comedian ' profusely apologised ', saying he believed in 'second chances'.
