Richarlison rules out Tottenham exit this summer after transfer talk

Tottenham forward Richarlison has said he will be playing in England next season and dismissed suggestions he is in talks to leave the club as "fake news".

Spurs's £60million signing from Everton in summer 2022 has been linked with a move to one of Saudi Arabia's state-backed clubs as well as a surprise return to Brazil.

The 27-year-old suffered an injury-hit season for Ange Postecoglou's side, undergoing surgery on a niggling groin problem in November before being ruled out of the run-in and Brazil's Copa America campaign with a knee complaint.

During the season, he also revealed he had sought psychological help to address difficulties on and off the pitch.

He scored 12 times in 31 appearances for Spurs, typically rotating with captain Heung-min Son as the team's central striker.

In a post on X, Richarlison revealed he had cut short his summer break to work on his fitness in Sao Paulo and rubbished claims he is unhappy at Spurs.

"I gave up my vacation and came to work in SP so I could return well and [be] ready for the next season," he wrote. "I never said I was dissatisfied at my club, and everything that has been coming out in the media here about negotiations is fake news. I don't know where they got that from! I won't leave England next season!"

Spurs are expected to boost Postecoglou's attacking options over the summer and have agreed to extend Timo Werner's loan from RB Leipzig for a further season.

Werner, 27, joined Spurs on an initial six-month deal in January and made 14 appearances in the second half of the campaign.

The club will have the option to make Werner's loan permanent for 10m euros in a year's time.
