Richarlison reveals injury return date after ‘scare’ threatened Tottenham star’s World Cup campaign

Tottenham forward Richarlison has vowed he will be back in just two weeks after suffering an injury that threatened his participation in the World Cup.

A calf problem suffered in the weekend win over Everton left the 25-year-old in tears as he departed Tottenham Stadium on crutches.

It appeared as though his World Cup hopes with Brazil were at risk but, following a positive update from Antonio Conte, Richarlison announced his return timeframe on Monday.

He tweeted: “Guys, thank God it was just a big scare!! Two weeks and I'll be back! Thank you for the messages and affection.”

Therefore, the Spurs star will miss the upcoming club matches against Manchester United, Newcastle and Sporting CP, at least.

The Premier League clash against Bournemouth on October 29 and trip to Marseille in the Champions League three days later can both be considered doubts for Richarlison’s return.

Tottenham coach Conte had said earlier in the day: “His injury is an injury but it is not so serious. He has a problem in his calf but I think he needs a bit of time to recover and then to be fit.

“I hope [he will be fit] to play other games for us before the World Cup, but for sure, the injury is not so serious and I’m happy for the player because to play the World Cup is the dream for every single player.

“For this reason I am happy for him.”
