Richarlison apologised to Antonio Conte for what he considered to be his role in the Italian coach’s exit from Tottenham.
Conte left Spurs in March after a poor run of results and an astonishing public rant over the character of his squad, which followed a bust-up with Brazilian striker Richarlison.
The 26-year-old failed to score a Premier League goal under Conte having signed for £50million last summer, and fell out with him over a public plea for more gametime in March.
“After he left, I sent him a message,” he told the Que Papinho Podcast, via ESPN.
“I apologised because he was the guy who asked for me to be signed, and I couldn't help him as much as he thought I could. The least I could do was apologise for what happened there.”
Richarlison had described his season as “s***” in a mid-season interview in Brazil - which earned him a stern telling off in front of the Tottenham squad.
“Of course I made a fool of myself by saying in the interview that I needed [playing] time and everything else, it was after the elimination in the Champions League,” he explained.
“But then I apologised to him. I even told him that if he wanted to punish me, he could. We worked it out there, then I tried to have a run again, and another injury came up. Like it or not, it ends up affecting your head as well.
“He has to show his firmness also to the group, to say that he is there, that he is still in charge. It is his way of dealing with people, with the group, and he spent almost two hours just telling me off in the meeting, in front of everyone,” he laughed.
“Then the players even said, ‘Richi, don't do this anymore. Stay two hours waiting!’. Everyone wanted to go, and we were there. Solved, fine.”
