Richarlison had "chills in his stomach" when he arrived at Tottenham after transfer

Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison has said that he experienced “chills in his stomach” after finally arriving at the club.

The Brazilian became the latest new face to arrive at the club this summer, Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici electing to pay £60m to secure his services from Everton.

Having been handed the number nine shirt at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it is expected that he will play a key role in the club’s plans next season as they embark on their first full season under Conte. Following his arrival - and first meeting with his new teammates - Richarlison has now revealed quite how he felt following the initial interest from Spurs before making the move.

Speaking to the club’s official website, he said: "I'm very happy for this moment. I remember when I was in Brazil and the offer from Tottenham came I couldn't believe it.

“And after I signed the contract, even more so because it feels like a dream. When I arrived here it gave me chills in my stomach to see my new teammates and a new home.

"I hope to make history here in this shirt. And now it's about working with the great coach I have, with my great teammates too and make history in that shirt."

With Spurs having beaten fierce north London rivals Arsenal to a place in the Champions League, Richarlison himself now has the opportunity to play in the competition for the first time in his career. He at first made the move to England from Fluminense to Watford in 2017 before signing for Everton a year later.

The Toffees did not having any European football on offer during his four years at Goodison Park, with the 25-year-old hailing the “dream” of competing at Europe’s top table.

He continued: "It's a dream isn't it? I was commenting with my friends that the TV gave us goosebumps just listening to the theme song. So now I can be inside the stadium, listening to that music.

"I always said it was my dream to play in the Champions League, and now this dream will come true. Maybe I can cry because it will be a special moment to be there playing in the Champions League which I only watched on TV.

"Until last year I was there on the sofa in my house watching the Champions League, and I said it was time to play there. All the players dream of playing in this great competition, so I think when the time comes I'll be quite emotional because it's a big competition and all the players want to play there."

Aside from the prospect of European football, Spurs now have the chance to push on under Conte, the Italian having enjoyed a fantastic impact in north London. Richarlison believes Spurs are now set up to finally end the club’s long wait for silverware under the former Chelsea and Inter Milan schemer.

"Antonio Conte is putting together a great team to be able to compete in all competitions. I think we'll be very strong in all competitions and we'll fight for titles," said the striker

"The coach will prepare us very well for this because there are many competitions and now we have to be focused as much as possible. So I think we have everything to make great competitions, and in the end, we have everything to lift a trophy."
