Richard Simmons’ cause of death has been revealed a month after he was found dead in his home. The Los Angeles Coroner’s Office announced that Simmons died due to “complications from recent falls and heart disease as a contributing factor.” The toxicology report showed no substances other than prescribed medication in his system. The manner of death was ruled as “accidental.”
Simmons, a legendary fitness instructor, was discovered by his housekeeper after suffering a fall in his bathroom. Despite the fall, Simmons reportedly declined medical assistance and opted to go to bed instead. The following morning, he was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was 76 years old.
Simmons’ housekeeper, Teresa Reveles, mentioned that she found him with his hands balled into fists, a sign she associated with her own past heart attack. She believed Simmons passed away from a heart attack but noted that he appeared peaceful in his final moments.
Simmons was laid to rest in a private burial in Los Angeles on July 19, surrounded by family and friends. His older brother, Lenny Simmons, expressed gratitude for the support received during the difficult time and asked fans to remember Richard for the joy and love he brought to people’s lives.
