Richard Madeley tells GMB viewers that wife Judy is sleeping in spare room because of unwanted visitor

Good Morning Britain host Richard Madeley comically revealed that his wife, Judy Finnigan, is currently sleeping in their spare bedroom due to an unexpected visitor, which appears every night at 11 o'clock.

Speaking on this morning's edition of the ITV staple, the 66-year-old detailed how his 74-year-old wife of 35 years has temporarily left their shared bedroom due to a mouse, which has been crawling out from under their bed.

Chatting with co-host Charlotte Hawkins about the issue, Richard explained: "I was saying earlier that Judy is now sleeping in the spare room, because we've got this mouse in the bedroom now, and it comes out from under the bed every night at about 11 o'clock every night on the dot.

"Virtually to the second. I've set traps, I've got poison boxes out." He added: "I have tried peanut butter but it's not drawing them."

Charlotte then detailed how Sir Lindsay Hoyle - who is the speaker of the House of Commons - has set his cat on the mice intruding Downing Street. She said: "Well here's something for you, because Sir Lindsay Hoyle - the speaker of the house - he's brought his cat down to make sure that Downing Street is clear.

"The Parliamentary State needs to be clear of mice, so he's brought his cat Attley down to do this."

The show then screened a photo of Sir Lindsay sitting in the famous green chair with his cat, while Charlotte continued: "Here is Attley ahead of the Royal Reception in Westminster on Tuesday. So the speaker said, Attley has been going round to check there aren't any mice around.

"There were absolutely none, so you need to have a word with Lindsay Hoyle and say can you borrow Attley. There you are, that's the answer obviously."

Richard added: "Well Mr Speaker, can I borrow Attley for a day please? Apparently he's an ace mouser."

Elsewhere, viewers had some solid advice of their own to pass onto Richard and Judy, taking to Twitter to share their suggestions in bulk. One viewer, wrote: "Chocolate works every time hands down, tried everything before that. Tiny little bit of chocolate buttons is what we've used."

Another, added: "Good morning. Mix a little bit of flour and water. Never fails. Good luck," while a third, continued: "Plenty of cheese."

A fourth, joked: "Move house," while a fifth, said: "Try cleaning your house, Madeley."
