Richard Madeley recalled an interview with Chris Rock who he described as the "rudest" celebrity he's ever spoken to during Monday's Good Morning Britain.
The GMB presenter told co-host Susanna Reid that he met Chris and Ben Stiller with his wife Judi Finnigan while the Hollywood actors were promoting the animated film Madagascar.
Richard claimed the pre-recorded interview had to edited to cut out the comedian's "nonsense" and his "excruciatingly rude" behaviour that saw him effectively blank the hosts.
As GMB discussed Will Smith's infamous slap of Chris on stage at last year's Oscars, Richard said: "I have limited sympathy for Chris Rock, I'm not defending what happened to him it was clearly wrong.
"In 50 years in this game he is the rudest man I've ever had to interview...I have to say it stands out in my memory.
"He was just consistently unbelievably rude, a throughly unpleasant piece of work."
Later, Susanna quizzed her co-host on the interview as she joked he could have given Will Smith a "warning".
"It was a pre-recorded interview which meant we cut out all the rubbish, all the nonsense that we had to put up with from Chris Rock in order to have a viable interview."
GMB viewers took to Twitter to defend Chris and questioned the comedian's "rudeness" towards Richard.
One wrote: "Oh that’s convenient Richard, there’s no proof of Chris Rock’s apparently rude behaviour because it was ‘cut out’ of the interview. Sure it was Richard, we believe you #gmb #GoodMorningBritain."
"Richard saying that Chris rock is the rudest interview ever.. has he heard himself," another tweeted while a third said: "Of course Madeley has got a story about Chris Rock, tomorrow we'll hear the Dolly Parton one. #GMB."
Another added: "@GMB Richard Madeley slagging off Chris Rock, saying that Rock was rude. He had probably done so many interviews that day to promote his film. I have seen Madeley be rude to people on GMB. He's not a good interviewer."
