Richard Madeley asks GMB co-star if she has a 'crush' on Matt Hancock - and she is left appalled

Richard Madeley asked his GMB co-star Charlotte Hawkins if she had a crush on former health secretary Matt Hancock - and she was left appalled.

The Tory MP is taking part in ITV's I'm A Celebrity and the show was being discussed on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday morning. Richard revealed that one journalist had spoken about her crush on Matt Hancock - he then asked if his co-stars also fancied the politician.

However the team looked horrified as Richard said "apparently lots of other women have a crush on Matt Hancock as well". Richard Arnold, the show's entertainment reporter, looked dismayed by the suggestion whilst Charlotte Hawkins, who was presenting the news, shook her head and held her hand over her mouth, feigning sickness.

As Richard asked if she liked Hancock, she quickly replied: "No, no!" as she pulled a sour face to the camera. Viewers were also horrified by the suggestion, with one writing: "Nobody fancies Matt Hancock. He’s a weasel ffs! As if! #GMB."

In a letter to his constituents about his jungle stint, Mr Hancock suggested he was fulfilling his duties by taking part in the show, reports The Mirror. "While I fully understand your concerns and know there are those who don't think I should be going on the popular TV show, I wanted to respond to you at the earliest possible opportunity to explain why I have decided to go into the jungle," he wrote.

"There are many ways to do the job of being an MP… Whether I’m in camp for one day or three weeks, there are very few places people will be able to see a politician as they really are and where politicians can speak candidly to the nation."

He insisted at the time that he would be given a number of trials, as he shared: "I wouldn't be surprised if I end up doing some of the trials. I am hoping I can win some stars for the camp, but most of all I am looking forward to being myself."
