Richard Madden has said male actors in the film industry face also face pressure to lose weight for nude scenes.
In an interview with Vogue , Richard Madden said men also face the same pressure as women in the film and television industry to appear a certain way.
"We’re projecting a very unrealistic body image," he said in regards to nude scenes.
"I find myself with actor friends – after we’ve done a kind of barely eating, working-out-twice-a-day, no-carbing thing for these scenes – looking at each other going: ‘We’re just feeding this same shit that we’re against.’"
Madden has become a household name following his lead role as David Budd in BBC One drama Bodyguard, which he won a Golden Globe award for Best Actor in a Drama Series for.

Madden previously appeared as Robb Stark in Game of Thrones , Mellors in Lady Chatterly's Lover and as a promiscuous ambulance paramedic in Sirens, all of which required him to take his kit off.
The Scottish actor admitted he's faced demands to lose weight for roles while even on production.
"I've done numerous jobs where you’re told to lose weight and get to the gym.
"It doesn't just happen to women, it happens to men all the time as well."

Madden is due to appear in some raunchy "physical" scenes in the upcoming Elton John biopic Rocketman, in which he stars as the iconic singer-songwriter's manager and lover John Reid.
It was recently reported that a nude scene in the film featuring Madden and co-star Taron Egerton was considered for the chop by the studio Paramount Studios allegedly to secure the lower rating.
John Reid was also recently portrayed by Aiden Gillen in Queen musical biopic Bohemian Rhapsody .
Rocketman has been described as a fantasy-musical as opposed to a traditional biopic.
Rocketman is released in UK cinemas on May 24, 2019.
