Chelsea have been labelled an "on-going shambles" by Richards Keys, who is at a loss to explain Graham Potter's ideas.
The Blues lost once again at the weekend, going down to Tottenham 2-0 in north London. Their away form has seen Chelsea fail to win in their last eight outings on the road - their worst run for more than two decades - whilst their home form doesn't make for much better reading.
Potter was only hired in September, replacing Thomas Tuchel. The former Brighton boss was Todd Boehly's first managerial appointment since becoming owner and the American has backed him considerably in the transfer market, spending more than £300m in the January window.
Chelsea's lavishly assembled squad includes the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Mykhaylo Mudryk and Wesley Fofana - but they are failing to deliver results with pressure mounting on Potter. The Englishman was praised for his work at the Amex, but Keys doesn't think his players understand his ideas.
He wrote on his blog : "Chelsea? There’s not a lot left to say is there? It’s an on-going shambles. Does anyone know what Graham Potter is actually trying to achieve? I have no idea. Nor do his players."
Potter, who was handed a long-term deal when he arrived at Stamford Bridge, accepts that the confidence of the owners will not remain forever if he cannot produce results sooner rather than later.

He said on Sunday: "The results are not good enough for Chelsea. I take full responsibility for those results. I thought the players gave everything, it's just that the goal changes the complexion of the game and that made it difficult for us. If results aren't good enough, which they aren't at the moment, you can't rely on support forever."
Despite that, Potter has called for patience, citing the success of Arsenal, who opted to stick by Mikel Arteta during his first two seasons despite mixed results. The Gunners are now mounting a serious title charge and enjoy a two-point lead over Manchester City with a game in hand.
Potter claimed: "We were talking before the game about watching the Arsenal All or Nothing [documentary] and two years into Mikel's reign he's close to getting the sack and people are wanting him out and it's a disaster. Obviously now things have changed a little bit but that's just the way it is.
"If you look at Jurgen's (Klopp) situation, they [ Liverpool ] haven't got the results and all of a sudden people want him out. That's just the nature of football and obviously I haven't done enough at this club to have too much good faith and I also accept that as well. My job is to not worry too much about that."
