Richard Keys makes Steven Gerrard point and Brendan Rodgers 'disgrace' claim ahead of Leeds United

Former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys has labelled criticism aimed at Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers as a "disgrace". The Foxes currently sit rock bottom of the Premier League after amassing just five points from their opening 10 games.

Leicester are experiencing their worst start to a top-flight campaign since 1983/84 and play host to Leeds United at the King Power Stadium on Thursday evening.

Rodgers ended a media briefing in a King Power Stadium corridor on Saturday after one reporter suggested that he was taking home a £10 million-a-year salary. The Northern Irishman quickly shutdown those claims and labelled the question as 'very disrespectful'.

Keys believes Rodgers was right to take issue with the question and is confident that he would find another job if sacked by the Foxes.

“Now this is going to be an interesting race,” the presenter wrote in his blog . “At the time of writing Liz Truss is still in post and I guess she’s the favourite to leave first - but don’t rule out [Steven] Gerrard or Rodgers beating her to the line.

“That Rodgers is under pressure is a disgrace really. And he was right to object to press suggestions post match v Palace that he was only in post because a massive severance package was protecting him. That’s nobody’s business except his and the clubs.

“We know Rodgers is a good coach. And if it ends at Leicester he’ll get another good [job].”
