Richard Coles says he will have ‘curry and a pint’ after I’m A Celebrity return

Reverend Richard Coles arriving in London on Wednesday (PA) -

Reverend Richard Coles has said he will have “a curry and a pint” after returning from the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle following the end of the ITV reality series.

The former Communards band member arrived at Heathrow airport on Wednesday morning, telling the PA news agency his jungle journey, which saw him finish third, was “fantastic”.

Speaking at the airport, he told PA: “It was great, (I’m) very happy to be back in the UK.

“(The show was) amazing, the whole thing was just fantastic and I had a great time.”

Asked what he planned to do for Christmas, Coles replied: “Nothing, as little as possible, trying to persuade someone to make it for me.”

He then revealed what he would be doing when he returned home: “I’m going to have a curry and a pint, that’s what I’m going to do, I think.”

On his return to London, the priest wore a brown jumper with a checked shirt.

During his time on the show, the reverend became close friends with former Love Island star Maura Higgins and Loose Women panellist GK Barry, with the former nicknaming him “father”.

In the jungle, the 62-year-old also spoke about how he found being a gay priest in the Anglican Church, and recalled girls throwing knickers at him while he was in the 1980s pop group alongside Jimmy Somerville.

Journalist Jane Moore was the first celebrity to appear at Heathrow earlier in the morning, wearing a white top, grey coat and black trousers, and carrying a black bag.

The 62-year-old Sun columnist was the first celebrity to be eliminated from the jungle on November 29 following a public vote.

During her time on the ITV show, the Loose Women star became upset over the way that chores were split by McFly star Danny Jones and former Irish boxing champion Barry McGuigan, accusing them of “sexism” and “ageism” after being given the washing up to do.

McGuigan, who wore a dark blue coat as he arrived in London, told PA he would be going to see his grandchildren following his return to the UK.

On the show, the 63-year-old, who was voted off in a double elimination with Higgins, made friends with eventual winner Jones.

Presenter Declan Donnelly also returned to the UK following the show, wearing an all-black outfit.

Also arriving at the airport was Higgins, dressed in a white jumper and wearing sunglasses.

She smiled as she arrived back in the UK along with her fellow former jungle residents.
