Actor Richard Armitage strips naked and has an affair with his son’s girlfriend in a kinky new drama coming to Netflix next month.
The Hobbit star plays married William, a talented surgeon with a penchant for BDSM, who falls for younger woman Anna.
But their intense affair has repercussions for William’s whole family as Anna – played by Peaky Blinders and Happy Valley star Charlie Murphy – is engaged to his son, Jay.
Four-part erotic thriller Obsession will drop on Netflix in the UK on April 13 and is based on Josephine Hart’s novel, Damage.
It has been adapted for TV by feminist playwright, Morgan Lloyd Malcolm.
A trailer released by Netflix today shows the electrifying moment William and Anna first meet.
William tells Anna of his son Jay: “I think he’s worried about introducing us”, to which a seductive Anna replies: “Should he be?”
Another scene shows Jay sat at the dinner table with Anna and his parents as he introduces them for the first time.
But William’s wife Ingrid, played by Indira Varma, can already sense something is a bit off – but she can’t put her finger on why.
Speaking of her son, Ingrid tells husband William: “Did you see how he was with her? Our son is obsessed.”
She then adds: “She gives me, I don’t know. This strange feeling.”
Steamy scenes then show William and Anna as they embark on a steamy affair, which has a BDSM element.
One clip shows William wrapping red ribbon around Anna’s wrists to tie her up during a sex session.
Another shows him tying rope around her legs and walking behind her while she has a blindfold on.
A third shows them both naked and on their knees in front of a window as they embrace each other.
Feeling guilty about what he is doing to his son Jay, William asks Anna: “What if he finds out the truth?”
Anna replies: “This is no version of this with just you.”
As the trailer draws to a close, it looks like Jay will eventually find out something is going on – or at least has his suspicions.
While Anna and William struggle to contain their secret and lust for each other, their worlds appear to come crashing down around them.
Jay is seen looking tense on a train as Anna makes a phone call and tells someone: “I need you to do something for me.”
The clip ends with a teary-eyed looking Anna saying: “Damaged people are dangerous. They know they can survive.”
