Ricci Guarnaccio releases 'summer anthem' as he's tipped for Geordie Shore return

As rumours link him to a Geordie Shore return for the show's reunion, Ricci Guarnaccio is aiming to give 2022 the summer anthem it's crying out for with his new single.

Ricci, who famously engaged to ex Vicky Pattison on Geordie Shore a decade ago now, has teamed up with Newcastle based producer Josh Goodwill for their second tack together - Gotta Let You Go - after their first collaboration together received airplay on Capital last year.

Ricci and Josh have worked with vocalist Robyn Hart on the single, which was released onto digital streaming platforms on Friday and has received a firm seal of approval from Pussycat Dolls star Melody Thornton.

Ricci told ChronicleLive he was 'buzzing' to get the song out there, at a time when temperatures are soaring and people are looking for a sun-drenched soundtrack to their days and nights out. And with this summer slightly lacking in a 'big tune,' so far, other than perhaps Beyonce's comeback single Break My Soul, Ricci hopes Gotta Let You Go is going to go down a storm.

The 35-year-old explained: "It's such a well known track; I'm surprised there's not been more covers of it so far to be honest. It's just great to get it out there as people are back to partying again after not being able to the last few years.

"There will come a week when all the summer anthems will probably drop at the same time, but that's out of our control and we've just got to focus on our song. It's a serious tune."

After his passion for DJ'ing was forced on the backburner by the Covid pandemic, Ricci is hoping to have a busy summer of gigs in the UK, as well as making a return to Australia, but admitted his club appearances now are very different to the ones at the height of his Geordie Shore fame.

He joked: "It's good to go to clubs now and not be absolutely hammered. I can just get in there and do my thing and enjoy the music, whereas back in the Geordie Shore days we'd do four, five PAs a week and get drunk at every single one."
