Irish track star Rhasidat Adeleke has smashed the 400m National record, just three weeks after she set it herself.
The Tallaght AC star ran a time of 50.33, smashing the 50.45 record that she set at the beginning of February.
The stunning performance was good enough for Adeleke to take home victory at the Big 12 Championships in Texas on Saturday afternoon.
It's been a magical year for Adeleke who has propelled herself into the upper echelons of the sport. Her 50.45 time at the beginning of the month was, at the time, the fastest any Irish woman had ever run the 400m as she obliterated Karen Shinkins record of 51.58 which had stood since 2002.
While that National record stood for 21 years, it took Adeleke just 21 days to better her own time.
Representing the University of Texas, Adeleke blew away the field and now holds the second fastest time in the world this year behind Femke Bol, who ran a World Record race of 49.26 last week.
Remarkably, Adeleke's time is also the 13th fastest in history.
It's another giant step forward for Adeleke who is going from strength to strength this year. Not only has she now set the National 400m record on two separate occasions, but last month she also set the National 200m record with a stunning performance in the Dr MLK Invitational.
