RG Kar Case: Calcutta High Court reserves judgement on admission of pleas by CBI, West Bengal govt

Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court on Monday reserved its judgement on the appeals filed by the West Bengal government and the the CBI, challenging the life sentence given to RG Kar hospital rape-murder convict Sanjay Roy by a trail court.

'Life Imprisonment Inadequate' 
The pleas argued the Sealdah sessions court's decision  to give life sentence to the sole convict in the crime was inadequate.

Both the CBI and the government seeking death penality for the convict. 

Roy gets lifer 
Kolkata Police volunteer Sanjay Roy was sentenced to life sentence for the rape-murder of an juinor doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9, 2024.
