Rex Ryan lambasted Bill Belichick for creating fake drama around both of his terrible QBs

Calling what’s happening to Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots a “down year” right now might be talking a little too kindly.

The Patriots are awful. New England is stacking losses and climbing up the draft board as the team tries to figure out its problem at quarterback. Well, uh, actually, the team seems to have the problem figured out. And the problem is both the Patriots’ options at QB kind of stink. There’s not much the team can do to solve that.

Yet, every single week Bill Belichick makes it a mystery about which quarterback he’ll start for each game between Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe. You know, as if it actually matters. It’s a very Belichick-y thing to do. It’s also very annoying.

One person who has grown tired of it is Rex Ryan. He absolutely obliterated Belichick for doing this over and over and over again.

“Just name your dang starter. It doesn’t matter — they both stink. Whether it’s Zappe or pea-shooter Jones, we don’t care. They stink. Just go ahead and save the drama. Like we care about your team. Your team stinks.”

PEA-SHOOTER JONES, Y’ALL. Whew. Rex is on one with this one. He wasn’t done, either. He has more smoke for Belichick. He gave Tom Brady all of the credit for the Patriots’ dynasty.

“This team plays like they’re exhausted. The Patriot Way. That’s it. It exhausts these kids. Tom Brady was the only reason you won anyway. Alright. I’m just telling you the difference. Tom Brady was the absolute difference. I said from jump they would never win again when that guy trotted down to Tampa…Bill Belichick. The greatest in the history — I will never dispute that. I had my [expletive] kicked by him a million times. But if you think for a minute that it wasn’t about Tom Brady you’re absolutely crazy.”

Man. Rex has been holding this rant in for years. I just know it. Belichick spent years beating up on him when he was the Jets’ head coach. This is payback.

He’s not wrong, though! At this point, Belichick is just toying with his quarterbacks. It’s not helping anyone.

Rex might just be being petty here. But he’s also very right. Sorry, Patriots fans.
