It was day four of Glastonbury and my hair was far from looking its best.
The extended period of sunshine, dancing, camping and the lack of proper showers had impacted my locks, leaving them straw-like and lacklustre. But without the ability to wash my mane with the at least three-step routine that defines my typical shampoo, condition and treatment ritual, what could I do?
Well, my friend Lucy had the solution. She whipped out The EasiWaver and in 10 minutes, I had deliciously retro 70s waves that disguised the sheer quantity of dry shampoo coating the strands.
From that moment I knew I had to invest in my own. After road-testing the hair tool for the last month, here is what I thought.

Set-up
Plug in and you’re ready to crimp. That being said, the EasiWaver is a customisable tool to minimise damage. You can set the temperature, which is displayed on the top of the device, whether hotter to lock in the style in one pass, or cooler to protect your strands. Experts often stress that temperatures between 170°C and 190°C are optimal.

Functionality
You may be wondering, is it worth investing in a designated crimping tool when you have perfectly good hair straighteners? And the answer is not a simple yes or no. It depends on the type of crimping that you desire. As you can see from the picture below, the GHD straighteners that Lucy used (on the right) created a soft wave whereas the EasiWaver crimper provided a tighter, more retro look.

The EasiWaver is made up of ceramic and tourmaline plates that are designed to combat frizz as well as negative ion technology (that’s the green light that you’ll spot once the tools are turned on) that is said to protect against dullness and dryness.
It’s very easy to use. You simply place the section of hair between the S-shaped interior and hold, moving periodically down the strands. There is ease in movement thanks to the swivelling power cord - but just beware that near the scalp, it can get very hot.
The most recent time that I crimped my hair, the style lasted all night and even through to the next morning - something that is unheard of with my straight, fine hair that seems to drop almost immediately when typically curling. I could not believe the quantity of compliments too. This may just be my go-to look.
