Review: 1MORE EVO earbuds bring an audiophile experience for a great price

The sub-£100 market for active noise cancellation (ANC) headphones has been getting a little crowded recently, so does stepping up to the next level pay off if you splash out a little more cash?

Here's where the 1MORE EVO earbuds come in. They are adaptive ANC Bluetooth headphones aimed at the audiophile but are currently on offer at £99.99 from Amazon in two colours (black and white).

First and foremost, the build quality is definitely next level. The headphones have a premium look and feel and come with different-sized tips for extra comfort, while the case is small enough to carry around in your pocket (this is not always so).

When it comes to sound quality, the EVO headphones truly shine. The audio is crisp, clear, and well-balanced, delivering a wide range of frequencies with impressive accuracy while supporting the LDAC codec for high-quality wireless listening.

The bass response is powerful but not overwhelming, providing a satisfying thump without sacrificing the clarity of other elements in the music. Whether I was listening to rock, classical or electronic music, the buds delivered a rich and immersive soundstage.

A main feature of the EVO is its ANC technology. This feature works well, effectively blocking out external noise and creating a tranquil listening environment. You have four modes to choose from: the strong setting boasts 42dB noise cancellation depth, while you can also go for mild, adaptive (suitable for windy days). and WNR which automatically adjusts the noise cancellation depth to the surroundings.

Battery life is also very decent, you can get up to eight hours of listening from a single charge with another 20 if you recharge using the case (which itself can be powered-up via a USB-C cable or via QI). The quick charging capability was also convenient - a 15-minute fast charge will give you four hours of playback time.

The buds have touch controls that actually work. Having tested several ANC headphones this has become a real bugbear with me and I think mechanical controls are far more reliable, but the EVOs are intuitive, easy to use and far more reliable than some of their rivals.

Another premium touch is the app, which allows you to create your individual sound profile that is tailored to your taste by taking a sound test. You can also customise the controls.

The 1MORE EVO headphones are a great choice for anyone seeking a memorable audio experience. With their outstanding sound quality, effective noise cancellation, comfortable design, and long battery life, these headphones offer a compelling package - especially if you can get them for less than £100.
