Revenue officers seized over a million cigarettes and a large sum of cash in two separate incidents in two counties.
Detector dog Bill sniffed out over 1.5 million "Rothmans" branded cigarettes from a commercial property in Co Meath earlier today. More than €1.1million worth of cigarettes that originated in Belgium were seized.
They represented a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €919,000. A Revenue spokeswoman said investigations are ongoing.

In a separate incident, Revenue officers seized €13,700 of cash at Dublin Airport after stopping and searching a passenger flying to Zurich, Switzerland on Thursday, July 7. Officials were granted a three-month cash detention order by Judge Treasa Kelly at Dublin District Court on Friday, July 8.
The spokeswoman continued: "The cash is suspected to be the proceeds of, or intended for use in, criminal activity and is detained by Revenue in accordance with proceeds of crime legislation.
"These seizures are part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting the shadow economy and the supply of illegal tobacco products.
