There have been 2.5 million cigarettes that were in a package labelled as potato chips seized by Revenue in Co Meath.
Revenue officers searched the commercial premises in The Ward area of Co Meath under a search warrant. The find which has a value of €1.98 million had the cigarettes labelled as "Manchester" and would have signified a loss to the exchequer of €1.5 million.
The delivery of illegal cigarettes originated in Spain. A man in his 50s has been questioned in connection with the investigation which is ongoing.

A Revenue spokeswoman said: "This seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting the shadow economy and the supply of illegal tobacco products. If businesses or members of the public have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on the confidential free phone number 1800 295 295."
