Revenue seized almost three million cigarettes at Dublin Port on Wednesday.
The discovery was made as a result of routine profiling and with the assistance of detector dog Gus.
Revenue officers found the cigarettes concealed in metal frames in a consignment arriving from Poland.

The illegal cigarettes, branded ‘Marlboro’, had an estimated retail value of more than €2.3 million, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €1.8 million.
A Revenue spokesperson said: “Investigations are ongoing.
“This seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting the shadow economy and the supply and sale of illegal tobacco products. If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on free phone number 1800 295 295.”
