The booze was discovered in a convoy of vehicles making their way to a concert in Dublin on Monday. The convoy had just arrived at Dublin Port from the UK when officers uncovered the stash.

The undeclared alcohol was found as a result of routine profiling and had an estimated retail value of more than €23,000. It had a potential loss to the Exchequer of around €12,000.

On Monday, officers seized 150,000 ‘NZ Black Power’ cigarettes at Dublin Airport. They were discovered in an air cargo consignment on its way from Lithuania and were destined for a Dublin address.

The cigarettes were found as part of an intelligence led operation and had an estimated retail value of approximately €103,000. They represented a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €82,000.

Last Wednesday, 11 kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €211,000 was seized at Dublin Airport. They were hidden in air cargo consignment on its way to a Dublin address from the US.

The drugs were labelled as ‘sleeping bags’, ‘insulated socks’ and ‘waterproof parts’.

A Revenue spokeswoman said: "These seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the shadow economy and smuggling. If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on Confidential Phone Number 1800 295 295."
