Manchester United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka has revealed his pride at making his debut for the club, having waited "a long time" for his first appearance that came in the third round of the Carabao Cup during a 4-2 win against Aston Villa.
Dubravka joined United on loan from Newcastle over the summer, but has only made one appearance for the club since his arrival. The deal to take the Slovakian shot-stopper has proven to be a curious one, with David de Gea being turned to by Erik ten Hag in both the Europa League and Premier League so far this season.
The Reds are set to take on Burnley in the fourth round of the competition on Wednesday night, yet De Gea's absence from the Spain squad for the World Cup means that United's No. 1 will likely be named in the starting XI ahead of Dubravka, for some much needed match experience before the return to Premier League action against Nottingham Forest after Christmas.

Despite his lack of game time this season, Dubravka still looks back with pride at his Old Trafford debut earlier in the season, as he revealed exactly what the occasion meant to him.
He told club media : “It was a great experience, I’d been waiting a long time for the opportunity to play. I’m glad that we won that game, and we are in another round, so another game is coming very soon and we have to be ready for that.
“It was [an entertaining game], for the fans especially. The second half was amazing, I hope they enjoyed it and, at the end, we could celebrate together. It was amazing. It wasn’t an easy game against a good opponent, but I’m glad we could have a little revenge because we played against them a few days before and we lost [3-1 in the Premier League], so it was a good reaction.
“I’ve played at Old Trafford before as an away player, so I always knew what to expect but obviously you represent this club now and you realise the fans from a different perspective. I really enjoyed that and I’m glad we could give something back, as they’ve been brilliant.”
