Revealed: The cost of being a mascot at Nottingham Forest and every other Premier League club

Nottingham Forest are amongst the Premier League teams who don’t charge fans to be a mascot, but not everyone is as generous.

With controversy surrounding the incident where Arsenal players were accused of “ignoring” a young mascot as they signed her shirt ahead of the Gunners’ 2-2 draw with West Ham, there has been a lot of discussion about mascots in recent weeks.

And many parents will be wondering if it’s worth shelling out the large sums of money demanded by some clubs for their child to walk out with the team on match days.

But luckily, Forest fans are among those fortunate enough not to have to pay for the standard package, which is free to junior members. You can find out more about becoming a mascot on the club website.

Those other clubs offering free mascot opportunities include all of the ‘big six’ clubs, as well as Brentford, Fulham, Leicester City, Leeds United, Everton and Southampton.

Newcastle United do also offer free packages to junior members, but did give fans the option of paying up to £550 for a VIP mascot experience for their pre-season game against Athletic Bilbao, which included a full junior match kit, tickets for the child and two accompanying adults, and a pre match meal.

Among those clubs which do charge, Brighton fans pay anywhere from £225-£350 to be a mascot, though they do offer two free spaces to junior season ticket holders at every home game.

West Ham’s mascot packages range from £175-£375 depending on the game, while Bournemouth charge between £264 and £300 at the Vitality Stadium.

Packages at Crystal Palace range from £100-£375 and give young fans the chance to meet the squad and management in the changing rooms at Selhurst Park before the game.

Wolves charge between £290 and £395 at the Molineux, though packages can include tickets for two adults, two juniors and access to the hospitality lounges.

Aston Villa offer packages from £150-£185, which includes a full kit, complimentary drink and a meet and greet with the players.
