Roguelike third-person shooter Returnal will be the next big Sony exclusive to make the jump to PC, based on back-end Steam data surfaced on SteamDB. Found buried in a mystery Steam listing is various tags that reference the game and one specifically about the “Tower of Sisyphus” – Returnal’s major DLC.
You can see all the data yourself on SteamDB, in an entry for a program titled Oregon. In-development games, particularly unannounced ones, will often use codenames like this for their listings so that everyone who has access knows what it is, but data-mining such as this can’t pull anything of note. That is, of course, until you update the listing with any identifiable elements – pictures, tags, access tokens, etc.
This comes after the news this morning that Sony is expecting heavy investment and returns on PC games after the big successes of previous releases, especially Horizon: Zero Dawn. There’s no reason to believe Returnal won’t do incredibly well on PC given its high-intensity gameplay, roguelike structure, and shooter elements.
Returnal PC was also a part of the legendary Geforce NOW leak which has proved to be almost universally true so far. It gives additional credence, should it be needed, to many of the games listed there.
