Return of a master

Swiss chef Andreas Caminada.

The modern Swiss cuisine restaurant Igniv Bangkok presents special gastronomic events to celebrate the three-day residency of its founding chef Andreas Caminada, who will return to St. Regis Bangkok from Nov 26–28.

Hailing from Switzerland, Caminada is a world-acclaimed chef with a total of nine Michelin stars under his wing. He has been awarded three stars for the Schloss Schauenstein restaurant in Fürstenau; two stars each for Igniv St Moritz and Igniv Bad Ragaz in the Swiss Alps; and one each from Igniv Zurich and Igniv Bangkok.

Schloss Schauenstein has been a permanent fixture in the World's 50 Best Restaurants list since 2011. Meanwhile, Caminada himself was honoured with the Michelin Mentor Award in 2020.

As a perfectionist, the Swiss chef always focuses on palate pleasure as much as he does on visual sensation. He is known for turning everyday ingredients into extraordinary culinary creations to ensure the dishes never lack excitement and are always surprising. Each component complements the others, and together they create a delicious balance of flavours and aromas.

On Saturday and Sunday, Nov 26–27, Caminada will be at Igniv Bangkok to cook up surprise dishes for guests. The experience will be offered as a part of the four-course Autumn sharing menu, which encompasses a total of 18 dishes and is priced at 6,900 baht per person.

On Monday, Nov 28, the modern Swiss restaurant will host two gastronomic collaborations.

At lunchtime, there will be a casual Kitchen Party with pass-around food and drinks by the Igniv team together with guest chef Thitid "Ton" Tassanakajohn from Michelin-starred Thai restaurant Le Du with live DJ entertainment. The price is 3,000 baht per person.

Later in the evening, Caminada and Igniv Bangkok's head chef David Hartwig will join hands with twin chefs Thomas and Mathias Sühring of two-Michelin starred Sühring restaurant. They will showcase a dexterous marriage of modern Swiss cuisine and innovative German fare through a very refined, multi-course dinner. The eight-hand collaboration dinner costs 9,900 baht per person.
