Retro Edinburgh roller disco with free entry will celebrate LGBT+ History Month

An Edinburgh event is celebrating LGBT+ History Month with a retro style party in Leith.

The roller disco, hosted by LGBT+ Health and Wellbeing, is kicking off on February 25. With free entry, skate hire and protective equipment - the event is open to all.

Organisers have said the event is a 'safe space to meet people', and is suitable for beginners and experts alike. Those under 16-years-old must be accompanied by an adult.

Held at the Boardwalk in the ground floor of Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre, the event will kick off at 3.30pm. Organisers said: "Enjoy roller skating in an LGBTQ- safer space with friends or to meet new people.

"For beginners and whizzy, twirly experts alike. Entry, skate hire and protective equipment is free with quieter space provided for non-skaters, so you can still be part of the fun.

"The Boardwalk staff can be on hand to support new skaters and there are protective pads available to wear for all skaters. However, if you experience any health conditions that put you at risk during this activity, please do not skate or seek medical advice before participating.

"Anyone from the LGBTQIA+ community aged 16+ living or travelling to Edinburgh is welcome to join us. We welcome the entire diversity of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community including non-binary, queer, intersex, asexual people and all identities under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella."

Spaces are limited for the event, so booking in advance is recommended. You can find out more here.
