A retired Nevada law enforcement officer, who previously served in the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force, expressed shock at the recent gunfire incident during a rally attended by former President Trump in Pennsylvania. Ashton Packe, the former Las Vegas detective, provided insights into the investigation of the assassination attempt in Butler.

Reflecting on the incident, Packe commended the swift response of the U.S. Secret Service personnel who surrounded the former president within seconds of the initial shot. He noted that the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, displayed amateurish behavior during the attack.

According to Packe, the suspect's use of an AR-15 rifle or M4 variant within close range was ineffective, highlighting the potential severity of the situation. He also praised Corey Comperatore, a victim of the gunfire, for his courageous act of shielding his family during the chaos.

Looking ahead, Packe expressed hope that the incident would serve as a catalyst for national unity and reflection. He called for a collective effort to bridge political divides and come together as a nation in the aftermath of the alarming event.
