Michael Beale is certainly capturing attention during his strong start to life at Rangers. The Ibrox boss has secured 10 wins in 11 games since taking change and is straight to the point when making his assessments. Viewing the correspondence on the Hotline, folk have plenty to say on Beale.
Steve Macleod, Wokingham, said: “Good grief, the Varcical Celtic fans can’t complain about VAR, so they aim a barb at Hearts’ integrity. What’s really happening is that they’re increasingly worried about resurgent Rangers and know they’re in for a torrid time at Hampden in a few weeks. Bring it on.”
Andy Bryce, Hamilton, said: “What a start by Beale. He has really got Rangers going and I’m excited by what lies ahead under his management.” But Paddy Gowans emailed to say: “Beale wants to be the centre of attraction forever slagging people off. He has no class just like his Rangers team. He called out Neil McCann for saying Morelos is an idiot for his goal celebration. Beale’s the idiot. Morelos could have caused a riot as these Hearts fans are very touchy about their team. By the way, I’m no fan of McCann."
Alex Russell also sent a message which read: “The gushing over Beale’s record since taking over is now bordering on pathetic. Nothing is mentioned that he hasn’t laid a finger on Scotland's reigning champions Celtic. He had his opportunity on January 2 and failed. If anything Celtic have increased the goal difference during Beale’s tenure. Celtic keep their powder dry and do their talking on the pitch unlike the daily rubbish emanating from Ibrox.”
VAR decisions are still all the rage as Sean Beech, Hampshire, said: “You have to laugh at all the Rangers fans finally jumping on the bandwagon and praising the officials and VAR for getting things right when that’s only what every fan of every club wants as well. Yet in the same game Connor Goldson’s arm is in the same position as the Livingston player’s which was deemed deliberate handball. Funny that none of them chose to mention that.”
Benjamin Clarke, Balornock, added: “With the amount of saves Goldson is making lately, the lbrox club needs to look no further for a replacement keeper. Another fine save on Wednesday.”
But Willie Mercer, Dumfries, countered: “The conspiracy theorists know no boundaries to their paranoia. Not being able to continue their diatribe of biased officials aiding Rangers to their victory over Hearts, they claim Hearts/Robbie Neilson lay down to Rangers. Could it not be that Rangers were just better than the opposition on the night? Of course not. That would mean them being fair minded.”
Stephen Johnstone, Ardentinny, said: “Rangers three VAR calls, what a farce. You need to watch football with a packed lunch for the time it's taking to play a game. 90 minutes plus 10.”
Jimmy Wallace, Edinburgh, also had a gripe about VAR and said: “Lots of complaints by Old Firm fans lately on VAR decisions. Well, they are not alone. The ludicrous decision to allow Ross County’s equaliser on Tuesday robbed Hibs of two points. Had that been against either of the Old Firm, it would’ve been immediately chalked off. As long as it is the same old referees making VAR decisions, we will never see parity. We must have an independent panel.”
Talking of matters at Easter Road, John Scott, Grassmoor, said: “I don’t think there’s many Hibees will be too sorry to see Kevin Nisbet depart Easter Road. I say that having watched our best move on for over 50 years. Of them all, Kevin has shown the least amount of commitment to our club. We get that players see Hibs as a stepping stone to bigger things, but with Nisbet it’s been obvious since the day he arrived from Dunfermline.”
