Democratic primary elections for all 99 districts in the Ohio House of Representatives took place on Aug. 2, 2022. Of the 99 districts up for election in 2022, 30 had a Democratic primary election with more than one candidate.
Across all contested Democratic primary elections, candidates raised $2.4 million. Incumbents raised an average of $82,635 per candidate and challengers raised an average of $23,255 per candidate.
Five primary elections with the most fundraising
The table below details the five Democratic primary elections with the most fundraising in the House of Representatives. Winning candidates’ names are in bold.

#1 District 7 – $326,444
Incumbent Allison Russo raised $292,569 and Ben Leland raised $33,875.
Allison Russo advanced to the general election and Ben Leland withdrew.
#2 District 24 – $313,358
Dani Isaacsohn raised $310,794, Dale Mallory raised $2,565, and Mark Childers raised $0.
Dani Isaacsohn advanced to the general election with 83 percent of the vote, Dale Mallory received 17 percent of the vote, and Mark Childers withdrew.
#3 District 27 – $217,141
Gavi Begtrup raised $178,099 and Rachel Baker raised $39,042.
Rachel Baker advanced to the general election with 62 percent of the vote and Gavi Begtrup received 38 percent of the vote.
#4 District 16 – $167,798
Incumbent Bride Rose Sweeney raised $71,671 and Incumbent Monique Smith raised $96,127.
Bride Rose Sweeney advanced to the general election with 56 percent of the vote and Monique Smith received 44 percent of the vote.
#5 District 1 – $142,413
Incumbent Dontavius Jarrells raised $133,222 and Carolyn Harding raised $9,191.
Dontavius Jarrells advanced to the general election with 65 percent of the vote and Carolyn Harding received 35 percent of the vote.
