Restaurant owner's four-word reply to savage 'public toilet' Tripadvisor review

A restaurant owner has hit back at a savage review on Tripadvisor which compares his bistro to a public toilet.

The sassy review slated the food at Waz's Bistrot, describing the menu as disappointing with a "very watery" tagine.

Writing under the name Blondie, the customer said the venue reminded them of "a pubic toilet".

But owner Mohamed Wassim Draoui, who has a 5.0 rating on Tripadvisor, was quick to respond with a four-word response saying "we can't please everyone."

The businessman is reportedly known for biting back at customers who criticise his eatery in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, reports Birmingham Live.

Last year, he told a customer to "get your taste buds tested" after another negative comment.

In the most recent critical review, Blondie described their visit to the restaurant in August.

They wrote: “Visited here last night on the recommendation of a friend. To be honest, I wasn't keen. I have read all the five star reviews, but I found the food disappointing.

"The tagine was very watery and full of dried apricots and sticks of what I think was rosemary.

"Didn't really like the graffiti on the walls, reminded me of a public toilet."

Mr Draoui responded to the diner and thanked the "non connoisseur" for their feedback.

"Bonjour Madame Blondie, your choice of comparison regarding our wall paper said it all about your level," he quipped.

The majority of reviews praise the food and cocktails at the restaurant (Waz's Bistrot)

"We can't please everyone, not entering a discussion with a non connoisseur about a traditional tagine made by a North African chef. Merci beaucoup for your feedback. Waz."

Blondie did not seem to experience the same enjoyment as other customers who have widely praised the food.

One recent reviewer said: "First time at Waz’s on Thursday, what a fantastic experience. We were recommended it at the beginning of the year and finally got round to visiting, and we’re so glad we did.

"The welcome we had was so warm and friendly and the food was amazing.

"To round off the meal, we had a delicious cocktail - best espresso martini I have ever had and I’ve had quite a few. Thanks Waz - we will definitely be back."

Another reviewer described it as "fab food, fab drink, fab service, fab".

Waz’s Bistrot has 434 independent reviews on TripAdvisor, with 413 of those reviews rating the restaurant as ‘excellent’.

One reviewer claimed the cuisine is presented to "Michelin Star standards" with flavours that "explode on your pallet."

They added: "Personal service by owner, who is head chef.

"Prices reflect the standard of food, for myself on a finer detail would be to have fabric napkins and tablecloths to enhance the high standard of delicious food."

Another reviewer, identified as Fallon, said: "First time visiting Waz’s Bistro.

"Great food and Waz was very friendly and treated you like a friend. Will definitely come back."
