The owner of a Chinese restaurant in Adelaide's south is in hospital with serious injuries, after he was set upon by a group of suspected vandals.
During the alleged assault, the man was stabbed in the hand and punched in the head, and was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene at the Southern Palace Chinese Restaurant, a takeaway noodle bar on Gulfview Road, Christies Beach, about 11:45pm.
They said the perpetrators were believed to be a group of five unidentified males, and have appealed to the public for information.
The group might have been "spraying graffiti on the premises prior to the assault", police said.
One was reportedly wearing a striped T-shirt and light-coloured tracksuit pants.
Police have urged anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
