Restaurant next to Edinburgh Castle offering exclusive six-course tasting menu

A top Edinburgh diner located just outside the capital's most famous landmark, the Edinburgh Castle, is set to bring a new exclusive tasting menu, offering a whole spectre of the flavours of Scotland.

Cannonball Restaurant & Bar at 356 Castlehill has outstanding reviews and is praised by the visitors for its exceptional service, food and value for money, with many noting the venue's tasting menu.

Now, the restaurant is ready to present the set of sampling dishes that bring out all the extraordinary flavours of authentic Scottish cuisine. The sampling menu, named Feast of Scotland, will change monthly in order to bring out all the seasonal produce the country has to offer.

This month, for instance, the menu features Peterhead Plaice, Shetland Mussels, Highland Red Deer, North Sea Monkfish and cheese and honey from the Borders - combining tastes from all around the vast country.

And, in the most Scottish way possible, the feast will start with a ten-year-old Glengoyne whisky with homemade bread and butter.

Cannonball owner, Carina Contini, said the new menu offers an opportunity to share one of Edinburgh's most iconic settings along with Scotland's seasonal larder. She said: "Enjoy cocktails in our bar before dinner and then take in the stunning views upstairs and enjoy six beautifully balanced dishes, available with matching wines. It's a very special, relaxed and great value evening out.

"We work with over 60 artisan producers, and we wanted to give them a stage to show what they can do. The tasting menu is a journey across Scotland sharing how wonderful our produce is. It is a great way to get a sense of our natural larder, according to the seasons.

"Everything we serve at Cannonball has been grown, raised or caught in Scotland, and we are incredibly proud of that."
