A Lancashire restaurant has been named as one of the best in the UK. Moor Hall restaurant, in Ormskirk, has been named in the food industry's bible SquareMeal.
The twice Michelin-starred eatery on Prescot Road, ranked an impressive seventh on the list of 100. The restaurant sits in a grade II* listed building that dates back to the thirteenth century, LancsLive reports .
SquareMeal's list of top eateries in the UK shouts about the best-of-the-best in emerging and established culinary heroes and means they can shout about incredible chefs and hospitality teams out there going above and beyond to give their diners top-class experiences. Leading this year is Osip in Somerset at number one, and chef Gareth Ward’s Ynyshir in Powys in second place.
The award-winning restaurant at Moor Hall is situated in five acres of gardens with views to the south over a lake, said to be the remains of a medieval moat. Andy and Tracey Bell took over the site in 2015, and Moor Hall opened two years later, following a multi-million-pound renovation.
In partnership with talented chef, friend and business partner, Mark Birchall, Moor Hall is now an award-winning Restaurant with luxury rooms, holding two Michelin Stars, a Michelin Green Star and 5 AA Rosettes. It was also recently crowned ‘Restaurant of the Year’ at the National Restaurant Awards 2021, for the second time.
SquareMeal’s Caroline Hendry said: “A huge congratulations to all 100 restaurants, and in particular to our winners Osip and BiBi, who absolutely blew us away with their menus, their work ethics and their celebration of incredible suppliers.
“While some institutions have remained in the Top 100, lots of newcomers have also risen up the ranks since we last ran the awards; a wonderful accolade for each new restaurant that has launched in such a trying couple of years for hospitality.”
