Liverpool’s brand-new restaurant and bar Nova Scotia opened its doors this weekend.
Situated in the Mann Island building on Liverpool’s Pier Head, Nova Scotia “captures the city’s maritime past” and offers views over the iconic waterfront. On June 2, guests enjoyed the open-air drinking and dining space for the first time, as well as the interior restaurant.
Owned by independent Liverpool bar operator Ma Pub Group, diners can enjoy breakfasts, lunches, small plates, mains and desserts. This includes full English breakfasts, burgers, sandwiches, hotdogs, traditional Scouse, fish and chips and rainbow salad. Nova Scotia also has a range of drinks and signature cocktails, including a wide selection of wines and beers.

The new restaurant and bar has created 50 jobs and has been inspired by the city’s history. At the end of the 19th century, the Mann Island area was previously a shanty-town called Nova Scotia, made up of dwellings and businesses serving the ships when the city boomed as a trade destination.
Iain Hoskins from Ma Pub Group said: "It’s a tremendously exciting time for Ma Pub Group and we are thrilled to be opening our third venue this weekend. On top of this, we have discovered this incredible history about the area, when the dock area was a shanty town. It’s quite mind-blowing and we want to help tell this story as part of Nova Scotia.
“We feel Mann Island is a perfect fit for us, operating two neighbouring bars locally we know the area very well. We’re looking forward to a fabulous summer in the city. We have a world class waterfront and it's an absolute privilege to be able to open a restaurant here.”
Nova Scotia is open every day from 9am to 9pm and is at 25a Mann Island, Liverpool, L3 1BP. To book a table, email bookings@novascotialiverpool.co.uk or call 0151 541 6720.
