Residents warned of pressure and supply issues after pump problem near Bristol Airport

A water pumping station is facing problems near Bristol Airport, with residents being warned they may lose supply or face low pressure. The issue at the pumping station in Barrow Gurney is currently being assessed by Bristol Water.

Bristol Water is advising on social media that due to the technical issue some customers may currently have either low water pressure or no water. The service is, however, saying it is working to get the issues fixed "asap".

Within the last hour they have tweeted: "There is an issue with our pumping station in Barrow Gurney. Our Inspectors are already on site working to get this resolved and back up and running asap.

"Customers affected may currently have low water pressure or no water. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

It has been a busy time for Bristol Water in recent weeks, with the service fresh from facing a massive burst water main in south Bristol that saw a key slip road closed for days.

The burst main off Brunel Way saw the slip road closed and flooded with water, with the torrent also seeping into nearby Greville Smyth Park and causing large puddles and standing water there.

UPDATE: A Bristol Water Spokesperson confirmed the issue had been resolved as of 1.45pm. A statement said: “Following some power issues in the local area, our pumping station at Rocks Lane, Barrow Gurney experienced some issues. Our Inspectors have been on site this afternoon to identify the problem, which has now been resolved. All customers in the area are now back in supply, and water pressure has returned to normal."
